Mobile Library & Fundación Nitca /Story time in Public Schools

In this occasion our Mobile Library carried us to Fundación Nitca , Sabana Grande for promoting the story time with 2 Public elementary schools (Pre-school “Fuente de Luz” and “Caritas Alegres ”); 76 Children in total and 6 teachers participated in the story time , not only listened all the great stories from American Corner ,they took a look of our books children literature and played all our ludic dynamics .

This kind of activities gives the opportunity for sponsoring a reading habit in children. Visit all those places permit us to be in touch with community and talk about U.S Embassy programs, in this case American Corner services. 

Mobile Library & George Buchnnercls’s library /Story time in the community

Starting August, Mobile Library from BCN and American Corner in partnership with Georg Buchnnercls'  library in Sandino City , has an afternoon full of stories with 20 children and 3 teachers who live in the community , all of this activity was  part of Reading habit promotion of BCN & American Corner  . AC Nic performed 3 stories (Duck for president, the little cockroach Martina and 3 Wishes)

We didn't only include stories but games too as “The Human knot “ (this game helped to the children for improving work team between them with the object for resolving problems through collaboration strategies).

Activity Significance: Children read in groups of 5 people different kind of stories, and some of them were available to talk about characters, the situation in the stories and more.

Makerspace -Mobil Library making handcrafts - Georg Buchneercls’s Library

For this activity we wanted to make some creative things with teachers of different schools and children from community in Sandino City.

During our handicraft workshop, we created a small basket for candies, sweet or chocolates. The materials we used were: a Plastic bottle of 2 or 3 liters, fommi and glue. 

 This kind of workshop tries to open teachers’ mind for doing something different when they have to celebrate a holiday in the classroom

Furthermore teachers through handcraft teach to their students how to recycle, reuse and conserve the environment.

American Corner accompanied Acces Program graduation 2015, in total 25 students reached their goal “Learning English” with the Micro-scholarship student given by U.S Embassy and CCNN. All these students were accompanied by 250 people in total where they celebrated their achievements .

American Corner Coordinator talked to University’s authorities about American Corner program and they could establish a friend relationship and collaboration with them.

Donation in Jalapa

During American Corner visit as part of the Marketing and outreach campaign , American Corner Coordinator Mrs. Nubia Manzanares gave a box of books as donation to the Martin Lutero’s University in Jalapa . This donation was received by the Main’s Library Mr. Marcos Olivares

All those materials will be very useful for increasing the numbers of visitors in this library who will be able to investigate more about English.

It was a way to promote the English learning, supporting for libraries in others communities and creating partnership between new collaborators.
