Books Exhibitions ¨Internationals Women´s Day¨


STUDENTS FROM PADRE FABRETO SCHOOL VISITED THE LIBRARY FROM BNC / March

On March 10th, 160 students from Padre Fabreto School visited the Library from Binational Center.  The Library coordinator explained at the students about the materials available at the Library and also explained about the different services.




WEBINAR 15—AMERICAN CORNER Content and Language Integrated Teaching

The last session of Webinar Course 15 on February was attended by 9 people. The topic was ‘’Content and Language Integrated Teaching’’. The presenter, Heidi Howland show us the different advantages for students and teachers. Now we know that our students can learn within a context, practicing different skills and about other topics at the same time.

It was really useful to know about the 4 C´s (Content, Communication, Cognition and Culture). These 4 basis things are going to help us to prepare our class, that´s why we always should have them on mind.


University of American (UAM) - International Fair



UAM (University of America) invited us to be part of the Interchange fair to promoting programs that we are part, American Corner and IRC explained about resources have available for the public, especially whom wants to study in USA, knowing more about its culture or how to improve themselves if they want to study English as second language. In this activity we shared time and space with colleagues from different countries: Colombia, Argentina and 3 Steps program to USA.

Data Base - Trace Effect Training / English Students from Binational Center

On February 5th, 2015 English Teacher Cecilia Berrios and the Chief Librarian of BNC  coordinated the Training about the Database U.S Department of State Trace Effect.  10  English Students Level 1st received information about English Language video game experience for students.  The students create an account.

Summer Camp - ACCESS Students



American Corner Assistant and Library Coordinator from  Binational Center visited the Summer Camp organized by “Access Program 2015”.  The aim of the summer camp was to create an English speaking environment for children   where they will get more familiar with the American traditions, history and culture. American Corner coordinator described the functions and missions of American Corner program to students. She described the resources and activities held at the American Corner.

Cine Forum - Blue Jazmine.



On January 19th,  the Library Coordinator from  Binational Center coordinated a Cine Forum.  In this activity participated 11 English Students of 8th  level .  The students watched the Movie ¨ Blue Jazmine ¨.  English Teachers from BNC and students shared  their opinions about the movie.  At the end of the activity the students were able to write a summary report about the activity.


Webinar15 - BNC Library

On January 14th, the library coordinator  from  Binational Center Library hosted the second meeting of the webinar courses for 14 English teachers from BNC. The theme was "Lesson Planning 101: Structuring Activities to Maximize Learning".  Leda Chavarria English Language Coordinator from US Embassy visited the group and explained about the Application for the SIT Graduate Institute at World Learning´s SIT-TESOL Certificate Course at teacher training Costa Rica and Centro Espiral Mana.



POPCORN DAY CELEBRATION

The Children Corner from Binational Center hosted 8 Children Of CCNN's workers . The children watched a Movie ¨The Cinderella¨ to celebrate the Popcorn Day.The Children With their parents enjoyed this activity and ate pop corn together.

Webinar ‘’ Networking: Making Connections that Last´´

‘’Networking:  Making Connections that Last´´ by Amy Pascucci. This is a series of professional development seminars moderated by John Kotnarowski. In this occasion was attended by 7 Frequent participants who visit American Corner Nicaragua. It was a great space to share of different points of view about topic day, at the same time practicing speaking & listening skills.

‘´San Valentine´s day Celebration´´

In commemoration of love and friendship this Valentine´s day we celebrated this special date making some handicrafts with kids. This activity was attended by 2 Saturday class group.


The first one was Eighth-level group of children who created a sweet gift box. They also exchanged gifts with each other.


The second group was wonder children group from 5-7 years of age who developed butterflies of sweets.

On June 3 and 4 Access students from Managua , Rivas and Juigalpa visited ACN and Roberto Incer Barquero Library... they recieved information about AC actiivties as well as they get know about new English resources, Trace effect game, E library ,Furthermore they had the chance to practice their English skills with some of ACN members.

Our first  Trace Effect Marathon 2014 !!


It is a virtual 3D experience, aimed at students aged 12 to 16 years, serving as a complement to the activities carried out in the classroom. Students can explore and become familiar with the culture of the United States through puzzles, activities and adventures, in an interactive world.

In this game, students of English can make a virtual tour through the United States to know fantastic places like Kansas, New Orleans, the Grand Canyon, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. This game is also available on DVD, both for students and for teachers.

Inaguracion del Nuevo Edificio del Centro Cultural Nicaraguense Norteamericano - Feb

Del 10 al 16 de Febrero el Centro Cultural Nicaraguense Norteamericano se vistio de gala al presentar al público general las nuevas instalaciones.  Contando con un Teatro, Antiteatro, 15 Aulas, 2 laboratorios, 1 biblioteca con nuevos libros.

Durante la semana hubieron presentaciones artisticas tanto nacionales, centroamericanos e internacionales. Dentro del pograma se destaco el grupo de Jovenes  de Jazz de Costa Rica, el grupo nacional de Phillip Montalvan, tarde artisticas con ninos y adolescentes, grupos de poetas jovenes, presentaci'on de libros, presentación de grupo de Hip Hop entre otros.

La Biblioteca del CCNN cuenta con una esquina para ninos que pronto estara equipada con todo el equipo necesario, así como tambien la biblioteca cuenta con 3 computadoras con conexión de internet, libros electrónicos como los audiobooks y Kindle.

Entrenamiento del Programa Prezi para estudiantes del Programa ACCESS - Feb

El 17 de Febrero la coordinadora de American Corner tuvo la oportunidad de entrenar a 15 estudiantes del Programa ACCESS en Managua para el uso y manejo de la nueva herramienta en Linea llamado Prezi.

Con este programa los estudiantes tendran la facilidad de realizar presentaciones de una manera atractiva y compartirla con sus companeros.

Webinar Party - Feb.

El 12 y 26 de Febrero se llevaron a cabo las teleconferencias desde Washington organizado por la Coordinadora de Profesores de Ingles de la Embajada Americana y American Corner.

En cada sección participaron 15 profesores de Ingles de los Colegios Públicos y Profesores del Centro Cultural Nicaraguense Norteamericano.

Los temas que se presentaron fueron " Staying current: getting creative with lessons from the Daily New y Active Learning in Large Classes".

La primera sección se llevo a cabo en las instalaciones de American Corner y la segunda sección se realizo en el Laboratorio del Centro Cultural Nicaraguense Norteamericano.

Colega Bibliotecaria Vida Luz Meneses, presento su nueva Obra Literaria " Flame in the Air" - Feb

El 26 de Febrero se llevo a cabo la presentación de la última obra Literaria " Flame in the Air" presentada por la colega Bibliotecaria Vida Luz Meneses.  Esta actividad se llevo a cabo en el Teatro del Centro Cultural Nicaraguense Norteamericano contando con la participación de artistas, escritores, poetas, amigos de la autora y público en general.

La Coordinadora de American Corner tuvo el privilegio de presentar la  resena historica de Vida Luz Meneses.  La noche se visto de magia ya que la autora y la traductora realizando lectura de los poemas tanto en Espanol como Ingles.
